Guy Montag is a fireman. He does the opposite of what firefighters do in his world, where television has taken over and literature is on the verge of extinction. He destroys the hidden houses in which the printed book is hidden, alongside the most illegal of commodities. He returns each day to his bland life and wife Mildred, who spends all day with her television family, never questioning the destruction his actions produce. In the meantime, he meets a young eccentric neighbor, Clarisse, who introduces him to a time when people did not live in fear and where one saw the world through books instead of mindless television. Suddenly disappearing Clarisse and Mildred’s suicide attempt leave Montag questioning everything he knows. A fireman starts pilfering books in his home, but when his theft is discovered, he must flee.
